What was the Accusation?

In June 2024, Guy Beahm, the livestreamer known as Dr. Disrespect, faced renewed public scrutiny after former Twitch employees said his unexplained 2020 permanent ban from the platform involved inappropriate private messages with a minor through Twitch whispers. Beahm responded by acknowledging that conversations had taken place, but he denied that there had been physical contact, illegal activity, or criminal intent. The controversy became especially damaging because Beahm had built a large entertainment brand around his streaming persona, and the accusations raised serious questions about his conduct, judgment, and responsibility as an adult public figure with a large fan base. Critics argued that his response minimized the severity of messaging a minor, while supporters focused on his denial of criminal conduct. In his public response, Beahm apologized to his family, fans, colleagues, and business partners, stepped away from his role at the game studio Midnight Society, and said he would learn from the incident while attempting to rebuild trust.

Transcript

Ladies and gentlemen, I want to first say I appreciate all the positive messages and support during this difficult time.
Over two years ago I messaged someone on Twitch whispers. Though the conversations were not sexual, I acknowledge there was a power imbalance and it was inappropriate.
There was never any physical contact or any type of illegal activity or intent. I made a mistake that I regret deeply.
I’ve let down my family, my fans, and my team, and for that I am sorry.
I take full responsibility for my actions and I’ve stepped down from my role at Midnight Society.
I will be seeking guidance to ensure something like this never happens again.
I ask for forgiveness and the opportunity to earn back your trust.
